Honda fĂȘtes million-mile Accord driver with surprise parade, new model

Webmillion-mile-parade
There's nothing quite like a parade in small-town America. The floats made by kids at the local high school. The middle school's marching band. The people on stilts. The new Honda.

Joe LoCicero gets a key from Miss MaineWait, what? Well this was no ordinary parade. Sure, it had all those things, but the occasion wasn't Thanksgiving or Memorial Day. It was another milestone altogether: Joe LoCicero hit one million miles on his 1990 Honda Accord.

It's been an event that people have been monitoring on millionmilejoe.com. You see, while the average driver clocks around 14,000 miles on the odometer every year, LoCicero does more than four times that. He started keeping track when he reached 300,000 miles, so when he hit the big seven digits, it was a cause for celebration.

So Joe's town of Saco, Maine, put together a surprise parade, complete with an airplane banner and a float with a giant odometer made up of six people spinning giant hamster wheels. And at the end, Miss Maine herself gave Joe the keys to a brand-new 2012 Accord, courtesy of American Honda. Nice work if you can get it.

  • I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE AT PARAGON HONDA! Devon Jordan made it all happen. She is the reason I even went to Paragon. I traveled over an hour each way. It was certainly worth the trip! Richard Perez, Elsie Tavarez and Joseph Choi were all wonderful! Very professional and great customer service. I wouldn't buy a car from any other dealership! 5 Stars all around! -Tanya J

2013 Honda Fit EV, 2012 Honda CR-V Bound for 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show

Honda_fit_r34_ns_102511_717
Just the Facts:
  • Honda is about to join the growing number of electric-vehicle manufacturers, rolling out the 2013 Honda Fit EV at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.
  • The 2012 Honda CR-V, which has been teased for months, will also make its official debut.
  • The pair debut on November 16.

TORRANCE, California — Honda is about to join the growing number of electric-vehicle manufacturers, rolling out the 2013 Honda Fit EV at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. The 2012 Honda CR-V, which has been teased for months, will also make its official debut, said the automaker in a statement on Monday.

The Fit EV was previewed a year ago at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show in the form of the Honda Fit EV concept. Honda will unveil the final production version of the car at this year's show.

Borrowing heavily from the look of the internal-combustion Fit, the EV concept featured a high-density coaxial motor and a lithium-ion battery park. The concept has a top speed of 90 mph and has 70-100 miles of driving range per charge.

The production version will further flesh out Honda's alternative-fuel offerings, which include the fuel-cell Honda FCX Clarity and the 2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas. No word yet on pricing for the production Fit EV.

It is expected that the Fit EV will target such products as the Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi i.

The debut of the 2013 Fit EV will mark nearly 15 years since Honda introduced its first electric vehicle, the EV Plus, which was leased to customer from 1997-'99.

At this year's L.A. show, the automaker also will roll out the 2012 Honda CR-V, which has been one of the worst-kept secrets in the auto industry. Honda has teased the CR-V for months, showing off a vehicle that looks a lot like the 2011 Honda CR-V.

In earlier statements, Honda said that the new CR-V will "feature a more fuel-efficient engine and reduced body weight (as well as) a more accommodating and spacious design with a lower cargo floor." No word yet on pricing for the 2012 CR-V.

(5) Star Review on GoogleMaps

  • I bought a Honda Civic EX in August 2011 from Paragon Honda. Sal Sifs, my salesman, is personable and considerate. He is dedicated to his clients. He did whatever was necessary, even working overtime, to ensure that the vehicle was in great shape at the time of purchase. You can be sure he will treat you right and take of everything you need. His manager, Joe, made me some guarantees before the sale and he kept them: he is an honorable man. I was wary of used car dealerships--as everyone is. But the people at Paragon Honda are good folks who sell good cars, so you have nothing to worry about. They live up to the word in their name: Paragon. I recommend them without reservation. -MuSigma

Two (5) Star Reviews on DealerRater

  • I recently leased a 2012 Honda Accord LX-S Coupe. My Sales Expert, Mr. Billy Sanchez, provided stellar and expert advice on the diverse selection of Accords available. His depth in knowledge of Honda's innovations and standard features provided me with a wealth of information to make a well informed choice of leasing a vehicle reasonable within my budget. One of the most important qualities of my experience with Billy was that there was no pressure to get the deal done in a matter of 5 minutes. Billy understood the importance of comparing trims, pricing, and test drives. I mentioned I was interested in an accord coupe and prior to my arrival, Billy had an LX-S and V6 EX-L waiting for me to test drive. This wasn't your two block and drive and put in park and sign the lease test drive; Billy provided a detailed tour of both interior and exterior features. He also gave a thorough explanation of new features in the engine. I was able to test drive both models on a highway and urban setting and enjoyed both models. The test drive was followed by pricing and options. One of the first questions Billy asked me was, what was I looking to spend, put down, and how was my credit history. This layed the foundation to lease terms and pricing. He presented numbers for both models that were within my budget and left the decision entirely to me. I was able to reach a deal with the financial office and signed a lease that fit my budget, gameplan, and model preference. During my negotiations with the financial office, Billy was attentive to the point that he had the vehicle washed and detailed for me to drive out the dealership the same day. We crossed "T's" and dotted "I's" and was able to drive my brand new 2012 Honda Accord LX-S home. I had a terrific experience at Paragon and more importantly with Billy. I recommend Billy for anyone looking to get into a car because of expeditious, friendly, and expert service.

Leasing a vehicle can be a life altering and nerve wrecking experience, however Billy changed the setting to a smooth and comfortable transaction. -dmacias210

He did whatever was necessary, even working overtime, to ensure that the vehicle was in great shape. It's a fine car. His manager, Joe, made me some guarantees before the sale, and he kept them: he's an honorable man. I was wary of used car dealership--as everyone is. But the people at Paragon Honda are good folks who sell good cars, so you have nothing to worry about. They live up to their name and good reputation. I recommend them without reservation. -ms1975

  • We came in for a Honda CRV and walked out with an amazing car for an even more amazing deal. The team here at Paragon Honda was really helpful and considerate to our financial and safety concerns regarding the vehicle. We felt comfortable and like our needs and concerns were respected. I would definitely do business here again and definitely recommend my friends or relatives to purchase a vehicle here. Another aspect of Paragon that made me confident about my purchase was their organization. Everything was clear and organized, several people helped us and specialized in each area of the customer experience which made everything a lot quicker!! Keep up the great work guys! -kvillamarin
  • Paragon was recommended to me by someone who had recently purchased a CR-V there and she was very pleased not only with her vehicle but with the purchase price. I was referred to Sal by name, and from our initial phone contact I felt more than comfortable about coming in as soon as possible. The atmosphere at Paragon was more attractive than the other dealerships I recently visited. And Sal was extremely friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about the vehicles that I was interested in. Anyone can tell from the way he interacts with customers and the way he explains details that he not only enjoys his work but he is good at it. I appreciate his honesty and his eagerness to help me find something that was appropriate for me, not just to make a quick-and expensive-sale. Sal made suggestions and offers that I had not received from other dealers; it turns out that leasing was a much more affordable and reasonable choice for me and I didn't even know it! I probably would have been stuck with a higher car note and an older vehicle at another dealership but not at Paragon, especially with Sal's patience and expertise! Overall I am very pleased with my new Civic, I am in love with it already, and I feel good about the terms of my lease agreement and the overall experience was pleasant. Now I'm actually excited to get up and go to work in the morning-what more could I ask for? -Sarisha
  • I took my wife's car for service. Wait time was as promised, service was fast and free food, coffee and internet access was being offered. I met with patient and courteous staff. Nick was the person that took care of me and he was very courteous as well. During my wait there was no customer upset and everyone seemed to get what they came for. Smooth operation. -Ervin Gega

Paragon Honda- (5) Star Review on Google Maps

  • We cannot say enough about Sal' s awesome customer service! Since the moment we arrived at Paragon until we left on our CR-V 2010, he was helpful and willing to answer all of our questions. Exceptional customer service!! He did his best to give us the best pricing available. He was very patient and very friendly. He answered every single question we had about the vehicle and options available. The CR-V '10 is in optimum condition and we were not rushed into buying it. We took our time to look at it and take it for a test drive until we were 100% sure that the vehicle was right for us. We are happy customers! And would definitely come again to this dealership in the future!! Another plus is that Sal was such a sweet heart with our 3 yr old daughter who is really a handful child but he was so patient with her and she really liked him, which is also a plus when you go with kids to a dealership. Overall, very satisfied! Thanks Sal!!! -Whitesuggar's

  • A month before I went down to paragon I was in an accident that totaled my 08 Civic si. I went down to paragon in search of a 2012 si in red just like my old car. After searching many dealerships no one was able to provide a 2012 sedan regardless of color. I went down to paragon and spoke to Kevin only to find out that there were only about 5 of the models I was looking for on the entire east coast. Kevin spent the entire day looking for my car in color that I wanted. He was able to find one about 8 hours away. Paragon went to all the trouble of buying the car off of the other dealership and driving it down. Kevin took a flight up there for me and drove it down personally. He went way above and beyond what I would of expected to provide me with my dream car. - madcutz227

Yelp
5 Star Review on Yelp -

  • Ever since I was 17 I owned cars that were passed down to me from my family.  I owned a Chevy Cavalier, a Ford Contour, a Ford Escort, and lastly a Suzuki Forenza.  They were all given to me at around 70k miles, excluding the Ford Contour which was at 100k - needless to say that one did not last very long.

So my Suzuki died on a Sunday afternoon right before the start of the workweek and I decided that I wasn't going to spend ANOTHER thousand dollars getting the piece of junk working again.  I was already in the repair shop at least once a month for almost 2 years as it was, and the service department at my local dealership knew me by name.  I had enough - it was time to get a brand new car.

I knew someone who had purchased a car recently and they said they got a pretty good deal on a car at Paragon Honda.  She told me it was a good place to start looking for a car and to shop around since they have both new and used cars.  So I got a ride down the next day and was there around 11ish to begin the search for my new car.

First, let me start by saying I generally dislike all salesmen and the sales experience.  I do not like when people try to convince me to buy things, I don't like sales pressure, I don't like being influenced to buy something and I HATE "up-sales".  I just like to shop around alone so that I can make the decision on my own without someone sitting on my shoulders annoying me.  I did not get that pressured feeling here.  The atmosphere was pretty inviting, they let me do my own thing when I asked them to, and they were very helpful in answering my questions when I wanted help. When I asked them to back off so that I can make a decision, they were respectful and courteous and let me walk around on my own.

They had a pretty nice variety of cars available to look at.  I didn't have very much time to think about what I wanted since my car had just died the previous day, but I was debating on either an Accord or Civic and I wanted it to be black.  I also wanted it for a decent price =).  So the first car I found was a Civic coupe.  It was a gorgeous car.  I asked them if I could test drive one and they said no problem.  I was able to drive it around for a little to get the feel of it.  They even let me take it on a straight-away so I could test how fast it was, although the area isn't exactly a place that you can easily fly around in.

I came back in and discussed the price with the salesman and a manager and although it was fair, I decided against it.  I wasn't in love with the car, so I kept looking.  Then I saw the 2011 Black Honda Accord V6 on the show room floor.  I instantly fell in love with the look of it.  It was sophisticated looking, had beautiful trim, was black, and was fully loaded (minus navigation).  I asked them if I could test drive it and they said yes.  I took it to the streets and it was exactly as I expected:  fast, smooth, sleek, and a dream to ride.  I had fallen in love with the second car I stepped foot into - I knew that this was what I wanted.

I pulled to the side and walked in to discuss the price and options.  I felt like I was in control and everything was explained to me in a way that I could understand what I was getting.  I didn't feel pressured and I didn't get that "What does he mean by that?" feeling when negotiating the price and terms.  I just felt comfortable.

Ultimately, after some back and forth, I decided that I would be leasing the car.  The thought of always having a warranty and being able to get a new car after a few years really sold me.  I don't really care about the cost of buying vs. leasing, which is better, the feeling of "owning" a car, etc. etc.  I just wanted a nice car with the security of knowing that if it breaks or if I get tired of it, I can have it fixed or replaced - and I felt like I had that with leasing.  I went through the finance department and before I knew it, my car was being cleaned, detailed, and pull off the lot for me =).  They had an employee show me all of the features of the car and then handed me the keys.  I was out of there by the early afternoon with a brand new car.  My first brand new car!!

Overall I am very satisfied with the whole experience.  The people were friendly, the selection was big, the car runs beautifully, and I don't feel like I was taken advantage of.  I definitely recommend coming here if you're interested in buying a car. - Mike M.

  • I had heard of paragon bonds from reviews online, tv commercials and friends. I was a bit apprehensive as this would be our first car and was worried about insurance. Well, from the second we walked in to the second we left I just say our visit and experience was outstanding. When we walked in, the manager Ariel Munoz walked right up to us and introduced himself and his sales rep Shawn brown who gave us a test drive, worked leasing numbers that we were more than happy with and showed us the vehicle we wanted with no hassle. He didn't try to show us or talk about anything that wasn't what we wanted. Once we agreed on figures which were to die for, we met Gary Lin the finance manager. All I can say about Gary is amazing, funny, friendly and helpful! Gary made sure we got into our brand new Honda crv with amazing insurance. I can say after visiting other dealerships is that paragon Honda is amazing friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, comfortable with the lease of our first car and even made the experience easier shopping with a child with coloring books and cookies! I highly recommend this dealership and these three gentlemen! - chiquita12225

  • Honestly, I was going in for a Honda Pilot 2010 Certified but Vicky and Rafael hooked me up with a NEW Honda Pilot 2011 for a cheaper price!!! They were incredibly nice to work with. I came in very apprehensive since other dealerships were like sharks and pressured you to buy. Everything I asked for within this new car, they were accomadating and customer service from these guys were top notch. You can't go wrong going with Team Rafael. Vicky, Raf, you guys ROCK!! - iluvsushi

Honda Leads All Automakers with Eleven LEED-Certified "Green Buildings" in North America

Renderimage
Facilities in Ohio and Canada are Honda's latest LEED(R)-certified "green buildings"

TORRANCE, Calif., Sep 28, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Honda Engineering North America, Inc.'s Powertrain Division in Anna, Ohio, and Honda Canada, Inc.'s new head office in Markham, Ontario, have each earned LEED "green-building" certification, bringing to eleven the number of LEED-certified Honda facilities in North America, the most LEED-certified buildings of any automaker. Honda Engineering North America's Anna facility has earned LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, while Honda Canada's head office has earned LEED-Gold certification from the Canada Green Building Council.

Honda Engineering North America's Powertrain Division, in Anna, Ohio, provides manufacturing tooling design and engineering support for the production of engines at the adjacent Anna Engine Plant, the largest automobile engine plant in Honda's global production network.

"Our environmental efforts extend well beyond the products we make and include the facilities that support Honda's manufacturing, R&D, sales and service operations across North America," said David Strelow, facilities manager for the Anna Engine Plant, who was involved in the construction of the new facility. "This is part and parcel of our commitment to being good neighbors in the communities where we do business and good stewards of the environment and our finite natural resources."

During construction of the expanded facility, the company used locally sourced materials where possible and diverted more than 185 cubic yards of construction material from landfills, recycling or reusing more than 50 percent of total construction materials. The expanded facility is now equipped with cool-roof materials, more energy-efficient lighting controls and advanced indoor-air-quality management systems.

Water conservation measures in the facility include the use of low-flow toilets and bathroom fixtures, which have reduced the building's water use by approximately 30 percent from earlier levels. Annual CO2 emissions from the facility have been cut by approximately 470,000 pounds.

"In order to serve the needs of Honda manufacturing facilities, we needed additional engineering resources," said Mark Starrett of Honda Engineering North America's Powertrain Division. "While building out these new capabilities, we also identified an opportunity to further Honda's environmental goals and to reduce our environmental footprint."

Honda Canada's new 138,000-square-foot head office, one of three buildings on the company's 53-acre campus in Markham, Ontario, utilizes a north-south orientation along with an energy efficient underfloor air-distribution system and a heat-reflective white roof to reduce energy consumption. Innovative water management at the new facility has reduced potable water consumption by 44 percent, compared to the company's previous facility. Also, landscape design provides for on-site storm water treatment through the use of bioswales and water collection. During construction of the campus, the company used locally sourced materials where possible, and diverted construction material from landfills, recycling or reusing 75 percent of total construction materials.

"Honda's environmental vision is to help preserve the global environment for generations to come, and includes broad-based efforts to minimize our company's environmental footprint" said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice president, Honda Canada. "Achieving LEED-Gold certification for our facility in Markham demonstrates our commitment to this vision."

Honda has been steadily expanding its portfolio of LEED-certified green buildings in North America since 1999, when the company's Gresham, Oregon, parts warehouse and service training facility became the first mixed-use industrial building in America to achieve LEED-Gold EB (Existing Building) certification.

In addition to the new Markham, Ontario, and Anna, Ohio, facilities, the company's green building portfolio in North America includes:

-- American Honda parts warehouse and training facility in Gresham, Oregon, now LEED-Platinum certified

-- American Honda data center in Longmont, Colorado, the first LEED-Version 2.2. Silver-certified data center in the U.S.

-- American Honda parts consolidation center in Troy, Ohio (LEED-Gold);

-- American Honda Finance Corp.'s Mid-Atlantic Region facility in Wilmington, Delaware (LEED-Gold CI for Commercial Interiors)

-- Honda R&D Americas, Inc.'s Acura Design Studio in Torrance, California; its Marine Engine Research Facility in Grant-Valkaria, Florida; and its central plant facility in Raymond, Ohio (all LEED-Gold)

-- Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC's welcome center at its auto plant in Greensburg, Indiana (LEED)

-- Honda Aircraft Company, Inc.'s world headquarters, R&D facility and the home of the HondaJet very light jet, in Greensboro, North Carolina (LEED-Gold)

Green building features at Honda facilities in the U.S. include such items as conservation easements; low-flow bathroom and kitchen fixtures; more energy-efficient heating and air-conditioning systems, lamps and lighting controls; Energy Star-rated appliances; cool roof materials; and wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Honda Engineering North America

Honda Engineering North America, Inc. (EGA) researches, designs and develops manufacturing equipment and tooling for use in Honda production plants. EGA maintains facilities near Honda plants in Marysville and Anna, Ohio; in Lincoln, Alabama; and in Alliston, Ontario, Canada.

Honda Canada

Honda Canada, Inc., was founded in 1969 and currently employs more than 15,000 people across the country. Honda Canada has produced more than 5 million cars and trucks since 1986. Honda's two auto plants in Alliston, Ontario, produce the popular Civic Coupe, Sedan and Si models along with the Acura CSX, ZDX and MDX. An adjacent engine plant produces fuel-efficient 4-cylinder engines for Civic. Honda Canada has invested more than $2.6 billion in Canada and each year it sources nearly $1.1 billion in goods and services from Canadian suppliers. Honda Canada has sold more than 3.4 million Honda and Acura passenger cars and light-duty trucks in Canada.

U.S. Green Building Council

The Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Green Building Council is committed to a prosperous and sustainable future for the nation through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings. With a community comprising 79 local affiliates, 16,000 member companies and organizations, and more than 155,000 LEED Professional Credential holders, the USGBC leads a diverse constituency of builders and environmentalists, corporations and nonprofit organizations, elected officials and concerned citizens, and teachers and students.

Honda Environmental Leadership

Honda is a leader in the development of leading-edge technologies to improve fuel efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions, including vehicles powered by advanced gasoline engines and natural gas-powered engines, as well as gasoline-electric hybrid, battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell-electric vehicles. Honda's comprehensive portfolio of advanced environmental products includes Honda CIGS thin-film solar cells, now being installed in select Honda facilities in the U.S. and Japan, and a solar-powered hydrogen refueling station on its campus in Torrance, CA, intended for refueling of fuel cell electric vehicles such as the FCX Clarity.

Honda has led the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) rankings of overall vehicle environmental performance since 2000, and a Honda vehicle has topped the list of America's greenest vehicles, from the America Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), for eleven consecutive years.

In 2006, Honda became the first automaker to announce voluntary CO2 emissions reduction targets for its global fleet of automobile, powersports and power equipment products and its global network of manufacturing plants. Today, the company is striving for even greater reductions in CO2 emissions that contribute to global climate change, while also working to minimize waste, water use and the total environmental footprint of its operations worldwide.
