Ferris Bueller doesn’t come off as much of a family man, but apparently his latest car would be perfect for it.

Kelly Blue Book named the East Liberty-built 2012 Honda CR-V, the car for which Matthew Broderick reprised his role as Ferris Bueller to hawk during the Super Bowl, as one of its 10 best family cars.

The CR-V ranked fifth on the list and garnered praise for its more contemporary design, a rear-seat entertainment system and improved fuel economy. Those are features Honda Motor Co. Ltd.  (NYSE:HMC) highlighted when it unveiled the newest model of the crossover sport-utility vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

The company said the vehicle has more space inside, handles better and includes more safety features than previous generations. Production began in late November and the 2012 CR-V hit showroom floors in mid-December.

Honda already has started to see sales improvements after the update. In January, the company sold 18,960 of the crossover SUV, up 16 percent from 16,339 sold in January 2010.

Sales of the Honda Civic, ranked eighth on the Kelly Blue Book list, also took off in the first month of the year, improving by 49.5 percent to 21,883 sales.

Kelly Blue Book touted the 2012 Civic’s new fuel economy display and affordability as keys to its ranking.

The Odyssey van was the highest rated Honda on the list, ranking No. 2 among the best family cars behind only the Volkswagon Passat.
