Another happy guest due to Sal's excellent customer service!

  • There is a very legitimate reason why this dealership has nationwide sales: The price. Paragon gives you the bottom line on all of its vehicles. No haggle, no hassle. No need to negotiate bogus charges. The vehicle was listed at 15K, and that's what I paid! There were no surprises. It is a car buying experience unlike any other. Me and my girlfriend caught a bus to New York from Baltimore, a cab to the subway, and the subway to Queens to take advantage of this steal.
I searched the web exetnsively for a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe and Paragon had the competition beat by far. There vehicle had lower miles, was the only certified pre-owned, and was 5 to 6 thousand dollars cheaper than the competition. The best part about our experience was the service. The representative Sal Sifs was very accomadating, personable, and honest. We had a few hiccups on our way to New York and we had to keep pushing our meeting with Sal back. He never complained and he made himself available until very late. The dealership closed at 8:30pm and he waited for us until 10:15p. Where else do you get service like this! -

Two (5) Star Reviews on Google Maps -

  • My recent experience at Paragon Honda was top notch. I had the privilege of working with Ivonne Miranda who helped me, on behalf of my company, a neighborhood financial institution, arrange lease deals on 4 CR-V's as the lease terms on our 4 prior Honda's reached maturity. The entire experience was top notch. I cannot commend her highly enough as well as her co-workers Evelin Sanchez and Gary Lin. The four of us who drive these vehicles daily are completely satisfied with our vehicles, after all, we are repeat customers so that should go along way especially in these days were you find, more times than not, impersonal business transactions - at Paragon this was the furthest from the truth. The entire experience was A++! I highly recommend them! - Louis

  • Came in with my father who was looking to lease a new accord, read some reviews which were bad about paragon and know the whole car salesmen are all snakes and sharks etc... but Ariel gave us no hassle or bull$hit, got to the point and wasnt pushy at all, got my father in a 2011 accord and made his day. I cant speak for all of paragon but Ariel Munoz is the one who should get your business. In fact im sending out my friends to get cars from this guy! A+ - Truthful

The Million Mile Honda Accord

02-meet-joe
Million Mile Joe

Honda is calling him "Million Mile Joe." And even though we know calling attention to his achievement is a huge plug for Honda, AOL Autos is always happy to spotlight those careful, conscientious souls who stiff to put at least a million miles on a vehicle that most people would trade in after 150,000 at the most.

Joe LoCicero, from the cold climes of Norway, Maine, a place where summer pretty much happens on a Wednesday in July before turning to Autumn, is approaching one million miles this month on his 1990 Honda Accord.

How did he do it? What kind of oil does he use? How anal retentive is he about keeping maintenance records for his light blue Accord? How lucky is he? The Federal Reserve seems to be telling us that the economic malaise gripping the U.S. could take several more years to put behind us. That means Americans are going to have to put more money aside to make up for lack of growth in investments and housing values. Check out the gallery, and learn how you could save money over the next 21 years by driving the same vehicle.

Using Factory Parts

LoCicero only ever used Honda parts such as air, oil and fuel filters. There are other brands that are cheaper, but the fact is that automakers optimize the parts they make and sell for their vehicles and their engines. Amazingly, he bought the car used in 1996, with about 34,000 miles on it, so this car has not been in his doting hands for its entire life.

Original Engine Still Chugging

Just because LoCicero has almost one million miles, don't get the idea that nothing has ever worn out. He has replaced the fuel pump, both cooling fans, and the radiator has been replaced twice. The engine, though, remarkably, is the original. It's worth mentioning that Honda is known for being one of the most innovative engine makers in the world. In fact, it started out life as a maker of engines and small motors, and then it got into the business of building stuff that the engines could go into. That's why Honda today makes lawn mowers, snowblowers, weed trimmers, generators, as well as scooters and motorcycles. It is the most vertically integrated engine maker in the world.

Organization Geek

Joe is like that Dad at least one of your friends has when it comes to cars. He began keeping detailed maintenance records when the car hit 300,000 on the odometer, and has a stack of notebooks with impossibly detailed information. LoCicero is the sort of guy the Car Guys, Click and Clack, worship, yet make fun of on their show. Once he realized he was chasing one million miles, he began taking snaps of his odometer. He has over 600 photos of his mileage. LoCicero is a certified mileage geek.

Is It Honda or Joe?

So how much of this one million mile feat is Joe and how much is Honda? At AOL Autos, we believe such feats are a collaboration between owner and car. There are clearly lemons in the world. And Germans have often talked about "Monday Cars," the cars that are built on Monday morning after workers have had beer-laden weekends. But no matter where a car or brand may fall on, say, the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study ranking, we believe following Joe's example gives the owner of any car today a decent shot at hitting one million miles.

Save Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars

How much money could a person save by driving the same car one million miles? Consider that while Joe has driven his car, others have bought perhaps 8-10 cars. Joe bought his car used. The average transaction price of a new passenger car today is around $30,000. Now, few people put as many annual miles on a car as Joe does. Most put between 12,000 and 20,000 miles a year on their vehicles. A person who is 30 years old today, and who puts 20,000 miles a year on their car, could reach one million miles in…hmmm…fifty years. We aren't sure too many people want to buy their last new car at age 30. But if they did, they would save perhaps $150,000 in principle based on today's average car price before fifty years of compound interest started mounting up.

In other words, following Joe's example could create several hundred thousand dollars in extra retirement assets. With the stock market whipsawing IRA balances, it might be comforting for some to know that extra care for their car could help make the difference between a affording a nice retirement condo in a warm weather place and finishing up in a house trailer in the snow-belt.

Follow Joe To The End

You can follow Joe's progress toward one million miles this month at Honda's Facebook page.

Some commenters have suggested that Honda should give Joe a new Accord when he passes one million miles. Why? The car seems just fine. What do you think?

  • The overall experience with Paragon Honda was fantastic. Ivonne and Joseph were both informative and knowledgeable with helping me to purchase the car (2011 Honda Accord) and Evelyn took the time to help me learn more about how the car operates before I left the dealership.

Not only has the entire team been fantastic during the whole sales experience, but Ivonne and Joseph have been extremely helpful with all my post-purchase needs, which I believe is just as vital as when you purchase the car. Ivonne has been in constant contact with me, even after I purchased my vehicle, answering any questions that I may have regarding the vehicle, going above and beyond her regular duties.

I will be recommending this dealership now and in the future because of the fantastic experience I had with them. Thanks again Ivonne, Joseph and Evelyn! - justinctan

  • Very competent sales service. The two employees I dealt with were most friendly and willing to come forward with compromise positions on pricing, accessories, etc. The entire dealership demonstrates an atmosphere of unhurried serenity. - ahmadkamal

Honda Fit EV Concept Car Breaks Cover in Germany

21988_fitev_2

At the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany, Honda unveiled the new Fit EV concept car. The new concept is a zero emissions vehicle that is powered completely by electricity. The Fit EV concept sounds a lot like the Nissan Leaf when you start looking at the specifics.

The EV will be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack and a coaxial electric motor. The concept has a 100-mile driving range and has top speed of 90 mph. The concept car has a five-seat arrangement and it uses a 3-mode electric drive system that is adapted from the Honda CR-Z hybrid.

The car has a information center that allows the owner to connect other car via a smartphone and check on charge state, start charging, and activate the AC system before they get into the car. The app also allows the owner to optimize charging for when the utility rates are at their lowest point.

A full charge on the battery will take under 12 hours with a normal 120V outlet. When plugged into a 240V outlet the charging can be finished in less than six hours.

The concept has a 100-mile driving range and is expected to hit the streets in 2012.

A big thanks to Jonathan for writing this great review!

How Paragon Honda and Acura Became #1

How Paragon got the Triple Crown for selling more Hondas, Acuras, and Certified Pre-Owned vehicles than any other dealer in the world

It is extremely difficult to increase market share ranking among the top 20 Honda and Acura dealers in the country. Paragon, however, has managed to move up in market share for both brands, from #17 to #1 in Honda New and Used and #36 to #1 for Acura New and Used, and became the #1 Certified Pre-Owned Dealer of the Year in 2010 by selling over 4,000 Certified Pre-Owned. Paragon continues to break records, selling 338 in CPO last month—an all-time Honda CPO record. How did they do it?

Paragon was spending a lot of money on mass marketing and was attracting a lot of customers, but not always the right customers. By casting a broad net with mass advertising they were attracting customers that were not profitable and had a low probability of returning for service and repeat sales. These customers cost more to attract, but generated less revenue, so in the end Paragon was spending too much money per sale, trying to reach the 15 plus million people across the New York City area. An unhealthy gross and a slim chance of customers returning for service or buying another car from them, meant ultimately the lifetime value of these customers was negative.

“We used to pride ourselves on selling customers from across the entire city and state, but after analyzing our numbers we learned those customers are usually not profitable and not loyal, because it’s difficult to retain them for service and repeat sales,” says Brian Benstock, VP and general manager of Paragon Honda and Acura.

Another problem that Paragon faced was working with multiple vendors that had different messages and often competing strategies that were not integrated and confused not only the customers, but also the employees.

Paragon’s goal was to create one strategy, work with one company, and develop an integrated marketing platform across multiple mediums that included research, targeted marketing, traditional, digital, public relations, social, niche marketing, and merchandising, so the message that the customer receives is the same whether it’s seen on television, heard on the radio, viewed online, or on the showroom floor.

While there is no one answer to how Paragon has achieved great success, there is one key approach—they aggressively seize opportunities to implement integrated marketing strategies to attract in-market consumers to buy and service their vehicles with their dealership and they deliver a world-class customer experience that not only ensures customer satisfaction, but also customer loyalty.

In 2009 Paragon seized a big opportunity with the Cash for Clunkers program. When most dealerships were trying to figure out what to do, Paragon quickly seized the opportunity by creating a comprehensive strategy that included a dedicated clunker website, targeted marketing to people who qualified for the program and a publicity strategy that landed Benstock on Fox, CNN, ABC, NBC, and on the home page of MSN.com two days in a row for selling the first clunker customer in the country. Paragon became #1 selling Honda dealer in country for Cash for Clunkers.

More recently, Paragon Honda aggressively capitalized on the ninth generation release of the Honda Civic. The launch of the 2012 Civic is the biggest new vehicle launch in American Honda history and is projected to pull a record number of consumers into the market. The manufacturer is spending a substantial amount of money to drive Civic customers into the market, and the most successful dealerships, like Paragon, are leveraging this launch to attract those consumers into their showroom.

Paragon has implemented an aggressive strategy to attract as many Civic customers into their showroom as possible. Their Honda Civic campaign, like all their marketing strategies, is a comprehensive integrated campaign across multiple tiers including targeted mail, search engine marketing, digital, social media, publicity, and merchandising.

First, Paragon performed in-depth market research to identify perfect prospects for the Honda Civic campaign: current Civic owners and consumers driving models that have a high statistical probability of crossing over into a civic, like the Toyota Corolla.

Next, Paragon sought to contact these consumers to notify them about the Honda Civic Upgrade Program via direct mail, email, and text. The campaign message offered buyers additional trade value for their current vehicle and the same or lower monthly payment to upgrade to a brand new 2012 Honda Civic. The campaign drove customers to a campaign website that provided an upgrade calculator that compared their current car to the new Civic, and displayed all the upgrades and improvements of the new Civic compared to their current vehicle, as well as, how much money they would save in gas with the new Civic monthly, annually, and over a five year period. A typical consumer can trade-up from a 2007 to a 2012 with over a hundred new vehicle feature enhancements while saving thousands of dollars in gas—a fact based value proposition that is hard to resist and as a result Paragon got more than its fair share of customers with this hard-hitting campaign.

Paragon also implemented a social media component that was centered around a viral video, the 2012 Honda Civic “Heritage” Video, the centerpiece of the Tell Your Story campaign that is aimed to create a visual experience that best represents the theme: “One Car. A Million Stories.” The video provides Paragon with a custom viral video to inspire traffic and consumer engagement, both on and offline.

The video brings a human element that promotes a generational feel, and connects the Civic with its far-reaching fan-base. “Capturing the Civic’s evolution in correlation with the various people featured in the video was key in attaining the correct tone,” says Sean Wolfington, owner of www.Tier10Marketing.com, the agency that Paragon uses for all its marketing campaigns. Over 50,000 people have viewed the video.

Consumer engagement is paramount to any social strategy, and to further the social media element of their campaign, Paragon launched the Tell Your Story contest that has been implemented to drive user interaction. To enter, contestants visit www.facebook.com/NewCivicand enter their Civic-story as a comment on the “wall.” The story with the greatest number of “likes” wins an iPod Touch at the end of every month during the promotion. This interactive incentive incorporates a viral component to the contest. Organic campaign promotion and positive word-of-mouth branding are just two by-products to benefit Paragon Honda.

While Paragon has executed the basics better than their competitors by targeting and marketing consumers with integrated campaigns that are consistent and credible they have also blazed trails and innovated in ways other dealerships have not, including an aggressive Latino marketing strategy, over half the customers in Queens are Latino, and a concerted effort to sell cars to customers in their service department that has resulted in an additional 75-100 vehicles sold every month out of their service lanes.

Paragon has also delved into the future with digital signage that reveals what the dealership of the future will look like with video walls showcasing new products, plasma presentations that emphasize the unique advantages of doing business with Paragon in both sales and service, and even broadcasting a closed-circuit television station that customers watch while waiting for their vehicles to be serviced. These televised broadcasts feature positive programming and videos about Paragon’s vehicles, like their Certified Pre-Owned Program, as well as, educational videos on how to better maintain your vehicle, as opposed to what many dealerships offer: traditional television featuring Jerry Springer, interrupted by ads from their local competitors. Paragon’s digital signage is also complimented by Apple computers on every desk and iPads for all sales staff to engage and help educate the customer on the value of doing business with Paragon and the products and services they offer.

Paragon is successful, because of their unique and aggressive style to capture the moment and seize opportunity. They perform diligent research of in-market consumers, they reach out to consumers with integrated campaigns, and they innovate where other dealerships do not, like through Latin marketing or selling cars out of their service lanes, as well as, leveraging technology throughout all of their departments to create a better customer experience and increase their profitability. Paragon has one strategy and one message integrated throughout multiple tiers. They identify opportunities in the market place where the demand has increased and they are better than their competitors in bringing that new demand to their dealership like they did with Cash for Clunkers and the 2012 Honda Civic—and they will continue to do so.

  • Sal is the man!!! He was helpful and honest about the price and worked with us to make sure we get the car. From the price, finances, and was very knowledgeable with the car and its features. If he doesnt know he'll tell and look it up. Overall pleasant experience. So if you ever are looking to get a car from Paragon Honda, look up Sal. He will not disappoint!! Thanks Sal we are new owners of a Brand New Civic Hybrid. - ivobonfy

  • My experience with Paragon was great. I found a CRV that I wanted to look at on the dealership's website. I made an appointment and was set up with Sal. He showed me the car, which I liked, but it wasn't perfect (cigarette burns in both front seats and driver's door, missing trunk cargo and floor mats and a couple of small plastic pieces were missing from outside and inside the car. I told Sal I was interested in the car, but those items were important. He promised that he could fix everything for me. I took him at his word (and a signed IOU document) and agreed to purchase the car. I was offered $1250 for my trade in, which I wasn't at all happy with. Sal went to his manager with a number that I deemed appropriate and they matched it. I then met with Mitchell Levy who explained my financing and also offered me a Honda Care extended warranty (which also ensured a lower interest rate). I was at first suspicious about this situation (as everyone always says to never buy an extended warranty) but since it's Honda and Mitch explained it well and told me about the many benefits, I agreed. A little while later, I was given the keys and I drove off. I made an appointment for that Wednesday to have all of the cosmetic items taken care of. I dropped the car off in the morning. Sal kept me informed about the progress during the day and I picked it up after work that evening. Everything I was promised was complete (holes were repaired - they're not perfect but pretty good - floor mats and trunk cargo arrived and were brand new in the box and all other small items were installed. Sal also had the car detailed again for me, so it shined like new. Overall, a great experience for me with Paragon. Sal was professional and friendly and delivered as he promised. He was a big reason for my purchase. - antnyp73

  • We own two Honda Vehicles. A Honda Odyssey and an Accord Sedan bought at Paragon Motors of Woodside, Inc. As a result I very often interact with the personnel of their Service Department.

The entire staff, from the Sevice Advisor to the Cashier and everyone else working there, constantly offers a courteous, competent and professional attitude. A very dedicated Angel Cruz is always ready to provide his exceptional expert advice.
This is all because the Service Manager, Mr. Anthony Petito has created and maintained an environment where Customer Relations and Customer Satisfaction are
the goals. I have observed Mr. Petito entering this establishment at 5:00 in the morning. As a customer, I see the end results.

I have been highly recommending Paragon Honda to all my friends and to others. Mainly because of the Service Satisfaction they are guaranteed under Mr. Petito's stewardship. - poinsond2

  • I came across many unwarranted reviews bashing Paragon Honda prior to my visit. I don't understand what that was all about, but I had a great experience. Spent a good amount of the day there, not because people weren't doing their job, but because they were very busy! which is great. I also went to several Honda dealerships who spoke spoke badly of Paragon whenever I would bring up Paragon prices. However I soon realized how much they were just hating Paragon because it seems to me Paragon is drawing all the customers. Went in for a used Honda Accord, got a good deal, staff extremely helpful and friendly. No surprises, no hidden charges. I dealt with Mark Ellis and Clive Johnson, both great sales reps, did not pressure me at all. William in financial was very informative and concise. Elsie Tavarez was very friendly and helpful when it came to my departure from the dealership. Wendy was very entertaining and engaging, she personally welcomed everyone to the "Paragon family" which was very nice. Everyone I came across were sincere, down to earth and not overwhelming as other dealerships played out to be. - Muzaded

  • " We had been to 3 other dealerships. We had talked to dealers that had made promises that they could not deliver once we got there. Not only did Paragon Honda deliver, they gave us a very fair price on the car we wanted. It was below the price we had been quoted at other dealerships. Plus, the environment in the dealership is clean, comfortable, and there is an air of professionalism that we did not find at the other locations. This is a full service dealership. We were there for a long time and Ariel Munoz even brought dinner for us while we worked on our financing! Buying a car is extremely stressful. Billy Sanchez made it easy and pain free and William in the finance department taught us so much about our credit. We feel we got a very fair rate on our loan. We highly recommend this dealership when buying a Honda!" - amycrossfield

Cleaner, greener 2012 Honda Insight

1956327455
Making its debut at the Frankfurt motor show next week will be the tweaked, nipped and tucked Honda Insight hybrid, with a new grille, a slimmer spoiler to allow a wider rear glass area, revised tailgate trim and a smaller rear wiper - all in the name of improved rear visibility.

Very practical, gentlemen.

There have also been detail updates in the cabin - but the big news is under the bonnet, where the 1339cc petrol engine and constantly variable transmission have been revised to reduce internal friction, and the aircon compressor updated with a new cold storage system.

It doesn't sound like a lot but that, together with the improved aerodynamics, has reduced CO2 emissions from the previous model's 108 grams per kilometre to a claimed 96, a 12.5 percent improvement.

The engine mapping has also been revised for smoother power delivery and the suspension tweaked for a more comfortable ride without compromising stability.

All of which goes to show that saving the world isn't about grand gestures - it's about constant, unrelenting, unglamorous attention to detail.

Nice one, Honda. Respect.
