Honda Wants to Make its Cars Lighter, N BOX City Car is the First Example

Honda-n-box-22
It’s true that the majority of new vehicles tend to be heavier than the ones they replace, even if their dimensions remain similar. Most of the times, the reason is that manufacturers try to improve their vehicle's safety credentials and comfort amenities with a negative impact on weight and fuel consumption.

Now this trend seems to be reversing, albeit at a slow pace. For example, Peugeot’s new supermini, the 208, is lighter than its predecessor, the 207.

According to business daily newspaper Nikkei, Honda will soon join the pack as it plans to change its design and assembly methods to reduce its vehicles’ weight without making any compromises in safety or comfort features.

Nikkei reports that Japan’s third largest manufacturer will invest tens of billions of yen to update both its local and overseas plants, starting with the smallest models in its range.

The newspaper added that some of Honda's new manufacturing methods include welding outer panels to the frame of the vehicle instead of assembling the ceiling, side and the rest of the panels, in order to reduce the usage of bolts and reinforcing materials.

In fact, Honda has already modified one of the two assembly lines at its Suzuka plant in Japan that manufacture the N BOX, the first model of the N Series mini cars. The move is said to have reduced the city car's weight by 10 percent compared to an equivalent size model, while also lowering manufacturing costs.

Paragon Honda - (5) Star Review on CitySearch

  • Excellent service.Very professional and efficient staff. That was why I returned to Paragon when I decided to get a new car, my second from Paragon Honda. I tried other dealers and was given the generic treatment by dealers who treated you as second class citizens when you try to ask 'too many questions". On my recent trip to Paragon the minute I walked through the door I was greeted by a friendly 'hello how can I help you today". This was from sales consultant Jose Aybar. This was very refreshing as I had just left a dealership where I walked around the show room for 35 minutes and no one paid attention or came to offer their help. Not unitl I physically sought someone out they just passed me looking at cars without saying a word. The color of the car I wanted was not available at the time but Jose tried his best and called me with the good news later that they were able to get that color.

I convinced my sister to purchase her car at Paragon years ago and I am trying again to convince her to go and see Jose.He makes everything seem soooo easy. Thanks Jose and Paragon. Keep up the good work -Beryl S.

New Four-cylinder 2012 Honda Crosstour EX and EX-L Combine Affordability, Fuel Efficiency and a Sleek Crossover Design

12honda_crosstour_exl_3
Two new four-cylinder, two-wheel-drive Honda Crosstour® models are set to go on sale next month, broadening the vehicle's appeal through a lower price point and EPA-estimated fuel economy that increases 3 mpg in the city and 2 mpg on the highway.

Equipped with a 2.4-liter i-VTEC inline four-cylinder engine producing 192 horsepower, the newest Crosstour is available in two trim levels, including the Crosstour EX and leather-upholstered Crosstour EX-L. A Honda Satellite-linked Navigation System is available on the Crosstour EX-L.

EPA-estimated fuel economy on the four-cylinder Crosstour is 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, a significant increase from the 271-horsepower 2WD V6 model's EPA estimated 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.

With the launch of the new four-cylinder Crosstour models, some useful features are now standard across the entire Crosstour family, which first debuted for the 2010 model year with V6 power. Standard features now include an automatic dimming rearview mirror, a rearview mirror back-up camera display for improved rear visibility (non-Navigation models), convenient auto-on/off headlights, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® and USB audio interface.

Bold Exterior and Functional Interior
Honda Crosstour approaches the crossover SUV formula from a distinctively sleek, sporty and fuel-efficient perspective, while also maximizing the interior's cargo capacity, versatility and premium feel.

The exterior design emphasizes a bold, aerodynamic look that also conceals an accommodating rear cargo area. The four-cylinder model includes body-color door handles and unique 17-inch alloy wheels with P225/65 R17 all-season tires. Two new colors are available on all 2012 Crosstour models: Twilight Blue Metallic replaces Glacier Blue Metallic, and Basque Red Pearl II replaces Tango Red Pearl.

Premium interior styling, appointments and details extend from the passenger compartment all the way through the cargo area. An under-floor storage area in the rear of the vehicle adds functionality, while reversible cargo floor panels accommodate dirty objects.

Efficient Four-cylinder Powertrain
The new four-cylinder Crosstour models come with a 2.4-liter, 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC® engine for power and efficiency. The engine produces 192 horsepower at 7,000 RPM and 162 lb-ft. of torque at 4,400 RPM, while achieving an EPA-estimated city/highway/combined fuel economy of 21/29/24 mpg. To maximize efficiency, a technologically advanced 5-speed automatic transmission with Grade Logic Control is standard equipment.

Comprehensive Feature List
In addition to auto-on/off headlights, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink®, USB audio interface and rearview mirror back-up camera display with integrated guidelines, additional standard features on the new four-cylinder Crosstour EX include projector-beam headlights, a moonroof, body-colored power side mirrors with defrost, auto-up/down driver and front passenger side windows, and rear privacy glass. Inside are air conditioning with second-row ventilation, a 360-watt AM/FM 6-disc audio system with seven speakers, steering wheel-mounted cruise, audio and phone controls, an easy fold-down 60-40 split rear seatback, a hidden removable utility box and more.

Twelve American Honda Models Earn IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK

03_2012_cr_v_ex_l_awd
Twelve American Honda models, including the all-new 2012 CR-V that goes on-sale today, received the highest possible safety rating of TOP SAFETY PICK from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) under its more-stringent testing guidelines implemented last year.

The IIHS award recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting vehicle occupants involved in front, side and rear crashes, plus rollover performance based on ratings in the Institute's tests.

Announced by IIHS today, the Honda Fit, CR-Z, Insight, Accord, CR-V, Pilot and Ridgeline along with the Acura TL, TSX and MDX all earned the highest-possible score of GOOD in all four ratings, including the more rigorous roof-strength test. Earlier this year the all-new Civic and redesigned Odyssey earned the TOP SAFETY PICK, giving American Honda twelve 2012 TOP SAFETY PICK winners.

"We're proud to have achieved IIHS TOP SAFETY TOP rating for nine new 2012 Honda models and three 2012 Acura models, making American Honda among the best in the industry with twelve vehicles with top-class IIHS safety ratings under their new, more stringent ratings protocols," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "In fact, 91% of American Honda vehicles sold in the U.S. are TOP SAFETY PICKS. This accomplishment is part of a concerted effort we have made to reassert the Honda brand as a clear leader in this area."

Standard safety equipment on all Honda and Acura models include Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control; an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS); side curtain airbags (some vehicles equipped with a rollover sensor as well); dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags; a driver's front side airbag; and a front passenger's side airbag with an occupant position detection system. All 2012 Honda and Acura models recognized by the IIHS, with the exception of the Ridgeline, utilize the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. ACE is an exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal crashes. The ACE design utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment.

Paragon Honda - (5) Star Review on DealerRater

  • I just leased a 2012 Honda Civic LX from Stanley Liberato. Our friend leased his 3rd Honda from Paragon and highly recommended us to go there. I shopped other Honda dealers in Queens, LI, and NJ & got Internet quotes (I always do my homework). One of NJ dealerships gave me a good price but I wanted to find a car locally. (I leave in Queens). I talked to Stanley over the phone first & Stanley was knowledgeable and helpful. When I came Stanley provided me with an excellent customer service and I was extremely satisfied with his friendly, and professional demeanor. He worked very hard with his management, finance department, and customer service to get me the lowest price and went the extra mile calling my insurance company and work out details. When we leased the car, Elsie Tavarez, Delivery Coordinator worked us through Honda features. She was very patient with us and answered our many questions. I would recommend Paragon and Stanley Liberato to everyone who is looking for Honda. -RaisMic

5 comments Honda to Introduce New Hybrid Variant of Accord Sedan Next Year

Jdm-honda-accord-1
There's plenty of news coming out from the sidelines of the Tokyo Motor Show and a lot of them concern Honda's future plans.

Along with the Acura-badged NSX hybrid concept that's heading to Detroit, we also learned that Honda is preparing a raft of hybrid powertrains for its mainstream models.

Speaking to Bloomberg News, Honda Motor President Takanobu Ito said that the company's plans include the introduction of a hybrid version of its Accord sedan next year. Ito didn’t elaborate on which markets would get the Accord hybrid nor did he reveal any information on the engine set up.

Aside from Ito's remarks, the company released initial details on its powertrain plans that include the presentation of a 2.0-liter hybrid powerplant and a brand new two-motor hybrid system.

"Mid-sized vehicles equipped with this system [the twin motor hybrid] are scheduled to begin production, starting with the plug-in hybrid model in 2012 and the hybrid model in 2013," Honda stated in a press release. The company added that the plug-in models would employ the use of a "special lithium-ion battery and charger".

Honda said that after the recent introduction of the new Freed series, its hybrid lineup in Japan now consists of six models, adding that percentage of hybrid vehicles among new vehicle registrations in Japan in the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2012 is expected to be approximately 50 percent.

Honda Says its Cars Will Be Industry’s Most Efficient in Three Years!

Honda-accord-electric-sh-awd-prototype-623x389
While most were distracted gawking at Subaru’s new BRZ and Toyota’s new 86 sports cars, Honda quietly announced its new Earth Dreams Technology at last week’s Tokyo Motor Show. What exactly is “Earth Dreams Technology?” Earth Dreams is Honda’s new multifaceted engineering tour-de-force with which it expects to achieve best-in-industry fuel efficiancy   within three years, and to reduce its global CO2 output by 30 percent by 2020.

Honda plans to achieve best-in-industry fuel economy with Earth Dreams by introducing six different technologies into its lineup. Arguably the run-of-the-mill gasoline engine is going to be the backbone of Honda’s Earth Dreams. With its gasoline engines, Honda aims to, “Realize top level driving performance and fuel efficiency,” by upgrading its VTEC system  to minimize friction and improve thermal efficiency , adding direct-injection and VTC (Variable Timing Control) to many engines, and even implementing the Atkinson cycle, more common on hybrid drivetrains, on most of its engines.

Honda is also planning on significantly updating its diesel engine lineup – the place where it’s traditionally been weakest in markets like Europe, which favor oil-burners over gas engines. Honda’s future diesels will be reduced in size (down to 1.6-liters from 2.2-liters), and reduced in weight by upping rigidity and adding an aluminum open deck design for the cylinder block. Honda’s Earth Dreams diesel will also incorporate a compact turbocharger and a revised thermal management system. Honda said that all of these technologies will combine to help reduce its diesel engine CO2 output by over 15 percent.

Honda’s next step in Earth Dreams is one enthusiasts will probably bemoan; the widespread use of CVTs in its lineup, replacing the dated five-speed automatic. Honda said it will have three new CVT’s for mini, compact and midsize vehicles. Its new CVTs will use a reinforced belt, incorporate stop-start technology, and include “G-Design Shift” which will reportedly allow the transmission to, “Respond quickly to driver demands, and realize an exhilarating, sporty drive with superior acceleration.”

Honda will also incorporate a new full-hybrid system with Earth Dreams, replacing its IMA mild-hybrid system. Honda’s new hybrid system will be capable of being included in both traditional hybrid and plug-in hybrid applications. Honda’s new hybrid system will incorporate lithium ion batteries, and allow drivers to operate as an EV at low speeds, a traditional hybrid, and a mode combining the power of the engine and motor for high-speed cruising.

Winning back brownie points with enthusiasts is Earth Dreams’ new SH-AWD hybrid system. Likely to be incorporated into Acuras, electric SH-AWD will use a 308-hp 3.5-liter V-6 to power the front wheels and two electric motors producing 40-hp and 96 lb-ft of torque to power the rear wheels, all hooked up through a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Honda said that this torque vectoring setup will achieve V-8 power with I-4 efficiency – much in the same way Ford markets its EcoBoost engine lineup.

The final bullet point of Honda’s Earth Dreams is a highly-efficient electric vehicle powertrain. Honda said that its new EV powertrain will be among the most efficient in the world, consuming 29 kWh/100 miles, or 116 MPGe with an estimated range of 123 miles. Honda also said that its Earth Dream’s EV’s lithium ion batteries will be capable of being fully charged in three hours using a 240v source.

With Earth Dreams, Honda is looking to regain the place it once held as one of the most fuel-efficient brands, and best innovators in the industry. Will Earth Dreams help? Well it certainly can’t hurt.

Honda N Concept 4 is production-ready cuteness

Honda-n-concept
Remember Honda's nifty EV-N concept from the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show? Honda has updated it for 2011 in the form of this, the N Concept 4. Like the EV-N, this showcar harkens back to Honda's original N series of minicars from the 1960s, typified by the N360.

The N Concept 4 was a surprise presentation from the automaker, and while Honda is not yet issuing further details about it, officials tell Autoblog that this car will go into production next year as the next model in its growing N series of Kei cars. The production version will undoubtedly be powered by a 660cc gasoline engine, though whether it will receive some sort of forced induction is an open question.

We love the car's mix of rounded features as they disguise the overall form's boxy proportions and we hope Honda can find a way of preserving the N4's bright-eyed, friendly face when they make the inevitable switch to production lighting.

Paragon Honda - (5) Star Review on DealerRater

  • Before I start my review, I’m not affiliated or related to any of the sales people at Paragon Honda. My wife and I were very, very pleased with our experience at Paragon Honda. We purchased a 2012 Honda Pilot 4WD Touring model. Our Sales rep was Andres Sanchez. He is very courteous, knowledgeable, and super professional and goes that extra mile. I especially was appreciated with his patience because I have a 15 month old baby and Andres professionalism really, really shines. He should be a role model for other salesman. Paragon Honda provided my baby with a coloring book and some cartoon stickers which many dealerships do not do at all. They also provided refreshments for my wife and me and again many dealerships do not provide that type of service. Going back to the sale; Andres multi-tasks and which impresses me because his timing is perfect. Most sale reps will step away and forget about you, be not Andres, he somehow time manages himself like a human watch and I never have to wait for him, he is very prompt. My test drive with my vehicle was excellent too. Andres was very informative on the vehicle, he showed me every gadget and what they are used for. As far as my negotiation goes, it was the most painless process of the entire transaction. My wife and I were so satisfied with the purchase price of the vehicle which took only about 20 minutes. My trade in was also easy because I knew what I wanted in price and Andres work with the numbers and that too was a very easy and painless process, he gave my wife and I a very fair price. One last note: the day of pickup, there was a freak snowstorm in late October and I was not comfortable driving my vehicle home obviously a brand new vehicle, Andres Sanchez was super kind and made sure the vehicle was safe dry and cleans for me to pickup the next day which was a relief. Most dealerships won’t do that and will say it’s tough and suck it up and go, but not Paragon Honda, they will work with you and provide you the best customer service.
If you decide to buy a Honda, please see Andres Sanchez at Paragon Honda 1st, they have a very nice and super clean facility and the people there are very friendly and always smiling. That’s probably why they are the Number 1 Dealership in New York. Thanks again Mr. Andres Sanchez and Paragon. Also, I’m and recommending them to my family and friends too and you can bet on that. -eomix

Honda UK Confirms Production of Supercharged CR-Z iCF by MUGEN with 173HP and 0-62mph in 6.1

Honda-cr-z-icf-01
As we rightfully suspected when Honda revealed the Mugen CR-Z RR Study at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2011 earlier in the summer, the Japanese carmaker confirmed a production version of its hotted-up hybrid sport hatch that will go on sale in Britain next spring.

And for those of you wondering, unfortunately, Honda has no plans to offer the car in other markets – at least for the time being.

The production model is named CR-Z iCF and it has been developed in partnership with Mugen's European arm. At the heart of the car lies a modified version of the CR-Z's 1.5-liter hybrid powertrain that gains a supercharger, a new induction system and a reprogrammed ECU.

As a result of these upgrades, the CR-Z iCF has almost 50 per cent more power than the standard car at 175PS (equal to 173HP and 177bhp) and can sprint from zero to 62mph (100km/h) in just 6.1 seconds or 3 seconds quicker than the regular 124PS CR-Z.

In addition to the power boost, Mugen will also retune the chassis and modify the appearance of the CR-Z inside and out.

Martin Moll, Head of Honda UK's marketing division commented: "MUGEN Euro magic has created a super responsive yet eco-conscious model building on our sporting credentials and giving us the ability to compete in the "hot hatch" marketplace as we move into 2012."

Honda said that it is still working on the pricing but it expects the CR-Z iCF to start from around £24,000 (approx. US$37,300 or €27,990). More details are to be released closer to the launch date.

Everything you need to know about the 2012 Honda CR-V is right here!

2012-honda-cr-v-first-drive---01-opt
By: Damon Lavrinc

We Lavrincs are unabashed Honda CR-V fans. So much so that both my wife and father have one parked in their respective garages. When it comes to practicality, ideal ride height, fuel economy and ingress and egress, the CR-V is hard to beat. All of which helps to explain why it's placed either first or second in the compact CUV sales race since it was first introduced to the U.S. back in 1996.

The CR-V allows my wife to shlep a dog, a few cases of wine and untold amounts of catering supplies with room to spare. For my dad, the CR-V means that he can get in and out with ease and drive with the "command view" seating that Boomers are always after. And when asked what they'd like to see changed or improved, their list was remarkably small. Dad wanted softer seats and less road noise, while the wife wanted more cubbies and a bit more connectivity. Without directly conferring with my immediate family, Honda has managed to addressed all of these issues and more with the 2012 model, and it's thrown in better fuel economy and a host of new features to boot.

Despite all of these improvements, with every automaker pouring hundreds of millions into crossover development and scads of new entrants appearing each year, Honda simply couldn't afford to take it easy on this model – especially in light of its recent struggles. So with some trepidation, I flew to San Diego, California recently to see if the 2012 Honda CR-V is still good enough to retain its status as my go-to recommendation for the anti-wagon crowd.

The extent to which Honda has reworked the CR-V for the 2012 model year isn't immediately apparent until you see both models side-by-side. The three-bar grille, originally seen on the Accord Crosstour, has transitioned nicely to the CR-V. We're more than a little relieved, as this theme is set to filter through the rest of the Honda lineup in the coming years. Its headlamps, tautly pulled from the grill to the fenders have shades of Acura in their styling, while the side window upkick and boomerang D-pillar offer a dynamic, if subtle, evolution of the outgoing model's design. The rear is an attractive amalgamation of current Honda design cues (there's a bit of FCX in that sloping hatch glass) and the arching pillar-mounted taillights – a trademark of every CR-V – have been pulled up and over the rear fenders for a decidedly Volvo-esque appearance. The only aesthetic issues we have are the unusually long overhangs and the chrome trim surrounding the side windows – brushed aluminum to match the new roof rails would seem to be a better fit.

Honda's interior refreshening takes things a step further, with a new instrument panel featuring a massive speedometer front-and-center and a multi-information display nestled inside to provide trip details, exterior temperature and a few other must-knows. Flanking the oversized speedo are two semi-circular bits of trim that glow green the lighter you tread on the throttle, while traditional gauges for revs, engine temp and fuel level line the sides.

A new steering wheel comes festooned with a host of buttons to change audio source, adjust volume, cruise control and voice/phone commands, along with a small button in the upper left to cycle through the various functions of the new high-mounted display on the dash. Honda calls it an "Intelligent Multi-Information Display" and it's standard on all CR-V models, acting as a complement to the navigation screen to display clock and temperature, duplicate driving instructions, music source/album/artist info, fuel economy and range or a place to show off your kiddies by uploading a custom wallpaper. It's cute and it works, but we wish the engineering effort was directed at the ancient navigation system Honda continues to employ.

The navi's functionality is present, but compared to nearly everything else on the market, both its user interface and feature count lag far behind the curve. Honda claims the CR-V's touchscreen setup has been upgraded, but the navigation graphics are still MapQuest circa 2005, the audio screens look like something out of Windows 3.1 and general functionality isn't nearly as intuitive as other modern systems on the market. The major additions for 2012 are real-time traffic information provided by SiriusXM, Pandora radio functionality through a tethered iPhone (no Android support... for a while) and a new SMS read/respond system that only works with a few Blackberry smartphones. However, Bluetooth connectivity and iPod support are standard on all models, with a USB and auxiliary ports mounted in the massive center storage console (perfect for an oversized purse) and a bevy of new cubbies line the doors, along with a pair of water bottle-sized slots in the center console.

Our favorite feature of the revised navi system is its trio of back-up camera views, also standard on all models. When you shift the transmission stalk into Reverse, a standard 180-degree camera angle is displayed, with an option for a narrower 130-degree display or a top view that makes reversing down to the millimeter massively easy.

The CR-V's seats are decidedly cushier than those in the previous model, which felt – at best – like leather-covered cardboard, while rear seat occupants enjoy 38.3 inches of legroom and 56.4 inches of shoulder room. Cargo capacity is up to 37.2 cubic feet with the rear seatbacks in place (up from 35.7 cubes) and when you pull the new one-touch levers on either side of the cargo compartment, the 60/40 split rear seats perform mechanical origami, folding down to provide 70.9 cubic feet of storage (two cubes less than the 2011 model) and making better use of the lowest cargo floor in its class.

With the fitment of all this additional kit, you'd expect weight to grow commensurately. But you'd be wrong. Honda engineers claim that overall tonnage is down by around 40 pounds (depending on spec), and with the continued refinement of Honda's tried-and-true 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder, fuel economy has risen to 23 mpg city and 31 mpg highway on the front-wheel-drive model and 22 city/30 highway for all-wheel-drive versions. Horsepower is up by five ponies for a total of 185 hp and 163 pound-feet of torque, the latter of which peaks at 4,300 rpm and tapers off quickly as you get past the 5K mark.

When the last generation CR-V was introduced, the lack of a V6 option seemed to be a sticking point. However, having lived with two generations of the 2.4, power and delivery is more than adequate, and Honda seems to be saying that the additional expense of a low-displacement, turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder just doesn't make sense to the CR-V's bottom line. And neither does upgrading the standard five-speed automatic. Engineers have managed to reduce internal friction by around 15 percent, and partnered with a few efficiency tweaks and a new "Econ" mode – reducing electrical consumption and limiting power output at the press of the dash-mounted button – overall fuel economy and energy efficiency is up across the board.

The only downside to these efforts is the new electronic power assisted steering (EPAS), which is completely devoid of feedback compared to its hydraulic forebearers and lacks any meaningful amount of weighting. This isn't coming from an enthusiast's perspective – there's simply no on-center feel and even less information transmitted through the wheel. And after speaking with a few Honda reps about this shortcoming, we learned that there's zero chance of recalibration before the CR-V's December 15 on-sale date. Pity, as it's the only real low point with the CR-V's driving experience, and it's one that could likely be improved by massaging a few ones and zeros in the programming.

While the engine and transmission are largely carryovers for 2012, the revamped all-wheel-drive system stands to be one of the most advanced in its class. Partnered with a front MacPherson strut suspension and a rear multi-link setup, the "Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System" takes the old mechanical setup of its predecessors and sends it to Acura's SH-AWD finishing school. The system, which blends front-wheel-drive efficiency with full-time all-wheel-drive functionality, uses the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system to eliminate the outgoing setup's need for the front wheels to slip before sending grunt to the rear. No longer mechanically actuated, the new system uses a multi-plate clutch in the rear differential and an electric motor driving a single hydraulic pump to deliver power to the rear wheels instantaneously. During a handful of hard launches both on level surfaces and on hills, power delivery to the rear wheels was near seamless, with none of the drivetrain shudder experienced in older models. There's even a new Hill Start Assist feature to make accelerating from a stop on inclines easier.

Four trim levels will be available when the 2012 CR-V goes on sale next month (pricing has yet to be announced): LX, EX, EX-L and EX-L with RES. LX models come standard with the aforementioned five-inch display along with fold-down rears seats and Econ button. The EX adds privacy glass, 17-inch alloys with all-season rubber, a power moonroof, body-color mirrors and door handles and other assorted baubles, while the EX-L gets heated leather seats (the driver's is adjustable 10 ways), XM radio, roof rails, automatic dual-zone climate control and available navigation. Finally, the EX-L RES has all that plus a screen for rear seat passengers and wireless headphones to keep the kiddies at bay on long drives.

Steering issues and aging infotainment system aside, the 2012 Honda CR-V remains one of the top picks in the compact CUV class. More amenities, more standard features and boosted fuel economy are sure to keep it near the head of the pack, and there's a general sense from both the vehicle itself and Honda's engineers that it didn't take much to keep this refreshed CR-V class-competitive. And that's the way it's been with Honda the past few years. Evolve, don't shake things up and in the process keep buyers coming back for more. While that strategy hasn't always worked for the brand lately lately, it's a safe play that looks like it will pay off here – just ask anyone in the Lavrinc clan.

Production 2012 Honda CR-V caught ahead of LA Auto Show debut

01-2012-honda-cr-v628
Honda will officially take the wraps off its 2012 CR-V at the LA Auto Show next week, with the first examples hitting showrooms before the end of the year. It's common knowledge that the new CR-V will continue to use Honda's 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, though mated to a new (or, at least, revised) transmission that will enhance both performance and fuel economy. The CR-V's interior gets a healthy update, too, with some new materials used throughout the cabin. The overall form and function of the interior, however, won't differ much from the current model.

Paragon Honda - (4.8) Star Review on DealerRater

  • The first thing i noticed when i walked in to the dealership was someone already ready to help us. He came and introduced himself and before showing us the cars, he asked us about what we are interested in. Unlike other dealers, straight running to paper work and "FORCING" the cars on you, he understood the situations we have and how we can work things out. He was a real gentleman with his performance and knowledge on the cars. Only showed us in the price range and the type of cars we asked for. He didn't try to force anything upon us. GREAT JOB! More employees need to be like him. The best is that he did not rush in anything, took his time to explain and LISTEN to us before suggesting or making any other decisions. Highly advise going to the dealer and asking to work on your car that you want with Bark Qazi. -hdeepsingh92
